Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure New Regulations February 1997

“A physician should not initiate or continue prescribing a Schedule III or IV anorectic drug if:(1) The patient has a BMI less than 27 unless the BMI is between 25 and 27, and the patient has a co-morbidity, including but not limited to:(a) diabetes mellitus(b) hypertension(c) dyslipidemia(d) cardiovascular disease”

In lay terms, this means that to be eligible to take prescription diet pills in the state of Kentucky, you must weight more than the weight in the 27 BMI column, unless you have high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease, in which case you must weigh more than the weight in the 25 BMI column.
